Quick Tips
To get the most out of your stay, you need to plan your beach logistics. Since the motel is a mile from the ocean, walking with heavy gear is exhausting in the heat. The best strategy is to bring or rent bicycles. Manasquan is a very bike-friendly town, and cycling from the motel to the beach takes only 5-10 minutes and solves the parking problem at the beach, which is notoriously difficult and expensive. If you must drive to the beach, go very early (before 9:30 AM) or late afternoon to find street parking.
Understand the "Beach Badge" system. New Jersey's beaches are different from other parts of the world in that they are not free. A person has to obtain a daily or weekly beach badge(tag) to set foot on the sand during lifeguard hours. These can be purchased at entrance booths to the beach. However, the motel pool is free, thus most guests prefer to spend the hottest part of the day at the pool and go down to the beach later in the afternoon or evening when badges are no longer required and also when it's cooler.
And finally the room. Manage those expectations. This is a retro experience. Bring a power strip because there are probably only two outlets in the whole room and they're not convenient to the bed where you want to charge your phone overnight. Also try getting a room that's away from the road, to minimize traffic noise-though those seem to book up first.T here is no on-site restaurant at this motel so for breakfast check out nearby Paramount Diner or head into downtown Manasquan and The Committed Pig for some excellent local eats.
